Luckily have a family full of plumbers I got my nephew to give me a few cans of Rothenberger propane, as Albiscuit says it's a good quality propane always worked well in my blowtorch too, nice blue flame.
It's too stinky to use in the house though my wife thought there was a gas leak, outdoor or skirmishing it's fine though.. I'm very lucky and I can get mine free, I'll still use airsoft green gas too but on those days I know I will use too much gas I'll use Rothenberger pure propane.. The real savings to be made with propane come from refilling Coleman or Rothenburger bottles from giant 20Kg Calor bottles. But once setup the running costs are cheap and if you already have a polarstar system then you're laughing i run HPA only so its good for me.
Also alot of people dont like having the line running from the tank to the gun, but then again people dont mind having a sling attached to the gun so i see it as the same thing.
Advertise here. Propane in the UK. It is a little more expensive but worth it in my opinion. It has a much more consistant velocity and is not affected by the temperature. I buy the CO2 in boxes of 50 and it reduces the cost. You just look around and see if they make a CO2 mag for your gun. Not all that many do. Looks like KJW does for a lot of their guns. The nice thing about their adapter is that is comes with oil and another adapter for duster gas.
For what it's worth the odorant that Coleman uses in their propane canisters is kind of sticky; I don't know how else to describe it. Even after completely emptying the gun and the magazines the odor still clings to the gun. Maybe I just have a sensitive nose? Propane has no order so mercaptans are added. Sole purpose is to oderize the propane as a safety measure. If the oder is not an issue with you and you don't mind squirting a little silicone when refilling propane is very affordable.
Finally broke a part and sent it to KWA for repair. I have other AirSofts that I use the same in but they don't have nearly the BB's through them as my 1. If you plan to shoot a lot, 2,, BBs per month, it makes economic sense to go propane.
Start new topic. These are the larger gas bottles that you may have seen on industrial estates. These larger gas bottles are used to contain propane rather than butane and are available in a wide variety of sizes from 3. Large propane gas cylinders are not generally recommended for use with BBQs.
If you do want to use one of these cylinders with your BBQ then you would need to use a screw-on high-pressure adjustable propane regulator. It can be difficult to know how much gas you need for your BBQ.
How much gas you will need depends on how many burners your BBQ has. If you have an average sized BBQ with between one to three burners, then a 5kg patio gas bottle will be fine. A gas regulator is a small device which connects your gas bottle, via a hose, to your BBQ. BBQs are generally not supplied with a gas regulator.
This is because there are a huge range of different gas bottles on the market, so it would be impossible for BBQ manufacturers to include every type of regulator with their appliances. Gas regulators are there to keep you safe. A regulator controls the flow of gas from the bottle, through the hose, to your BBQ. Without a regulator, you would run the risk of letting too much gas reach your BBQ at once, with dangerous consequences.
There is one caveat to this however. This is because this type of BBQ is designed to connect directly to the gas bottle via a threaded connection.
It was fairly warm in the workshop when I did the tests, about 22c which explains the high results for guns set up for the UK. Previously I had set the NPAS valves on the guns for fps when the ambient temperature was around 10c. Both of the MAPP gas gasses were less smelly than propane, but still hand a distinct odour that many may find unpleasant.
The coleman propane odour was stronger than the Rothenburger propane. Same smell, just more of it from the Coleman gas. On to the results: 3 0. So what do I see in these results? Well I am surprised by how much lower the fps from the Protech green gas is. I tried a different magazine in case there was an issue with the magazine but got almost identical results.
I included the C02 Magazine just out of curiosity and one interesting observation is that the M4 and L22 are much closer in terms of fps when using the Co2 magazine. There is little surprise that there is very little difference between the two propanes. The Rothenburger propane appears to have less cool down fps reduction. The Rothenburger MAPP-Pro gave the highest fps so I must assume has the highest gas pressure but also exhibited the greatest amount of cool down.
