A recurring character in the series' fourth , seventh , eighth , and ninth books, Crystal is a shapeshifting werepanther and also the love interest of Jason Stackhouse. She is introduced during a New Year's Eve party, at Merlotte's , as Jason's date, and is of the very few of werepanthers that exist.
After suffering a miscarriage, she had been excused from her responsisbility to contribute to the pack because she is too inbred and can barely change with the moon. She sees Jason as an exciting challenge and a chance for a different life.
But fellow Hotshot werepanther Felton Norris is so obsessed with Crystal that he kidnaps Jason and bites him until he is turned. Ii is a warped attempt to level the playing field, feeling that if Jason is a panther, Crystal will not find him as desirable. Sookie and Sam go to Calvin Norris and are able to rescue Jason, and Felton pays for his crime at the claws of the pack rather than go to the police.
In All Together Dead , after suffering another miscarriage, Crystal becomes pregnant again, so she and Jason marry. Prior to her transformation in Season 4, Crystal was the most intelligent and civilized member of the Norris clan.
She could be kind, caring and friendly when she wanted to be. She also regretted the repulsive things her family was involved with, but felt pressure to adhere to their wishes. After her time with Felton, she was characterized by mental instability and a seeming lack of concern for the feelings of others.
Jason sees Crystal crying and is struck by her beauty. He can't get her out of his head. While driving by the police station after she was at the grocery store, Crystal sees Jason while he is cleaning police cars. She smiles at him and he jumps into a car and follows her, eventually pulling her over. He is only in his pants with a pair of sunglasses. He tries to convince her that he is a cop but she doesn't buy it and asks him where his gun, badge, and shirt are.
Jason introduces himself and asks for her name. She tells him her name and Jason tells her that he will be at Merlotte's that night but she says she can't go and drives away without a ticket.
Crystal goes to Merlotte's but doesn't go inside the bar because it is too much for her. Eventually, Jason comes out and sees her and they sneak off to a secluded area next to a lake or pond. They make out and flirt but eventually she says she can't do it and runs off. The next day, Jason finds out where she lives and brings her flowers. She pretends she doesn't know who he is and Jason finds out that she is engaged to a low-life.
She does not seem happy with her situation. Crystal decides to tell her family that she does not want to marry Felton. She receives a black eye and then runs away. She leaves her truck in front of Merlotte's and then swims in the lake so that Calvin and Felton will lose her smell. Of all of the girlfriends Jason's had since True Blood started seven, long seasons ago and there have been a lot , Violet has to be the worst.
When the HBO series introduced the brunette vampire into the series as a tough-as-nails Authority prisoner at the end of Season 6, she seemed like she was going to be pretty badass. Violet talked the feminist talk and barged onto the show acting like she was going to teach all of these men, human and vampire alike, that girls really do run the world. Which was great, but when Season 7 premiered, Violet quickly threw herself under the bus and forced me to pin a target to her back when she became the absolute worst.
Her rant in Season 7's third episode about how Jason shouldn't be effected by the traumatic, depressing death of women and children in a neighboring town was disappointing. Especially when she claimed that it made him less of a man because he had feelings. For a seemingly modern, girl-power woman, that's some archaic bullshit.
Violet's just become increasingly unlikable, which is hard for me to say, considering Jason dated all of these terrible women except for Jess over the past six seasons:. Use a connected account.
